Modernising PABX billing, deployment and server management across new and existing offices.
Migration to Raspberry Pi
The project moved PABX server workloads onto Raspberry Pi hardware. New offices provided the first deployment target, with a defined path for gradually transitioning existing systems.
Repeatable Raspberry Pi images were created with Packer and Ansible, while management software was containerised for both ARM and x86 environments.
Automated server management
AWX and Ansible scripts were set up to collect server information and carry out maintenance tasks. A Laravel application stored and reported on the server data, and provided a simple interface for configuring each server's automation.
Azure DevOps pipelines automated the building and storage of images. A legacy application was also moved from a physical server into an Azure-hosted container.
Recovering inaccessible call data
Because the phone systems did not provide an API, a Puppeteer script was built to download call-information files and scrape the remaining data needed by the billing workflow.
